Obviously the author had a thesaurus at her side and put it to good use while writing the sex scenes. Bravo! Too many novels tend to use the same terms for certain parts of the anatomy during the bedroom romps, which take away from the entire story, however the Author mixed it up in each scene she had written. The act itself was a little bit new and fresh each time also, adding a few tricks that aren't commonly seen in historical writings.
Overall, this book is recommended for those who enjoy steamy historical romances; Definitely worth taking the time out from doing laundry and vacuuming the carpets for a bit of indulgence.

"heated historical"
In 1069, William's most trusted vassal merciless Renaud de Wulf is leading a force through Northumbria burning all the villages and destroying anything in their way. Saxon Aleysia Cawdor is despondent because she and her twin brother Adelstan had come so close to regaining the family hold, Braemere, from the Norman butcher Baron de Pirou who killed their parents in cold blood, but now there is no hope, as Renaud never fails.
When his men capture Adelstan, Renaud is shocked as he is a teen who looks pretty not masculine making him wonder how this lad killed de Pirou and retook the fortress. Renaud accuses Adelstan of treason when an arrow is shot past his head. He goes after the twin only to find "Temptation" pleading with him for mercy for her sibling as she explains why de Pirou was killed and that her Scottish fiancé Laird Duncan Macmillan will come for her. They make a deal her body for her twin's life. As they seal their deal over the feel of the flesh, they fall in love, but neither wants to admit how much their beloved enemy means to them until it seems too late as the Scot led by Duncan and the Danes assault Braemere.
THE BARGAIN is a heated historical that brings to ardent life the Conqueror era. The novel is refreshed by the erotic relationship that eventually turns to love between the lead adversaries even as Renaud works to strengthen his control. Fans of late eleventh century romances with torrid love scenes will enjoy the star-crossed tale.

| Saxon maiden Aleysia Cawdor is prepared to do anything, give anything, to protect her twin brother from the wrath of the Norman king William. He is all the family she has left and no one will stop her from keeping him alive. When King William sends one of his most loyal knights to capture her brother and claim her home, Aleysia gives William’s champion a reception he will never forget. Should she fail she will have one last chance to sway the knight and save her brother.
Battle hardened Norman knight Renaud de Wulf takes one look at the Saxon rebel who nearly killed him and falls hopelessly under her spell. He has never wanted a women more. The urge to have Aleysia spread beneath him in his bed is almost overwhelming. Her desperate bargain is too enticing to pass up, but there is more to their bargain than Renaud could imagine. With the life of Aleysia’s brother at stake Renaud will have to make a choice between his loyalty to his king and his feelings for Aleysia.
Julia Templeton will blow you away with her latest super hot erotic historical The Bargain. The Norman Conquest is the ideal backdrop for this tale of loyalty, love and courage. Perfectly balanced with enough eroticism to keep your attention, strong dynamic characters, and a fascinating historical period The Bargain is one of the best buys of the month.
Cynthia, A ROMANCE REVIEW |
What begins as a hastily arranged bargain between two enemies just might become the love of a lifetime.
Aleysia of Braemere refuses to sit idly by and let her twin, Adelstan, be killed for defending their home. Shamelessly making a bargain with the Norman devil sent by King William, Aleysia devises a plan to gain his trust and free her brother. In her naiveté, Aleysia doesn't realize that in fighting her feelings for this fierce warrior, she just might lose more than her heart.
Throughout his life, Renaud de Wulf has been taught honor and loyalty. He has also learned to never trust a woman. Arrogantly believing that no woman can outwit him, Renaud agrees to Aleysia's request and terms. The seasoned knight reasons that he will reap the benefits of Aleysia's plea for her brother's life quite lustily without becoming attached to the blonde haired siren he holds in his arms. Quite unexpectedly, however, the tables turn and Renaud finds himself craving Aleysia's innocent and passionate touch like he has never craved anything before.
Neither Aleysia nor Renaud are prepared for the onslaught of feelings that each experiences. Aleysia torments Renaud at every turn as she manipulatively struggles to free her brother. Just when they seem to come to a tentative truce, an order by the king threatens to tear these two stubborn lovers apart. Before the king's edict can take place, a foe thought to once be a friend threatens Aleysia's very existence and it will be up to Renaud to save the woman he has come to adore.
THE BARGAIN by Julia Templeton is a passionate historical tale set a few years after the Battle of Hastings during the period of time in English history when Normans and Saxons despised one another. The emotions and feelings of the characters portrayed in THE BARGAIN are extremely realistic. I could sense Aleysia's turmoil as she fights to do what she thinks is right for her brother while still falling in love with Renaud. Renaud de Wulf is downright deadly but a most virile and sensuous man. I sat back and smiled as I watched him succumb time and time again to Aleysia's wiles. Perfectly matched, yet fighting their attraction every step of the way, their capitulation is breathtaking!
When I see the name Julia Templeton on the cover of a historical novel, I know within the pages is an extraordinary read. THE BARGAIN was that and more; it consumed me for hours! I had to know what was next for these wonderfully dynamic characters. To say that I enjoyed THE BARGAIN would be mundane; I savored this book and know without a doubt I will read it time and time again.
THE BARGAIN releases on November 7, 2006.

| "Erotically sensual and exciting medieval romance."
King William orders Baron Renaud de Wulf to overtake Braemere and capture Saxon Adelstan Cawdor for treason. What Renaud didn't expect was Adelstan's beautiful twin sister, Aleysia, pleading for a bargain to ensure her brother's safety. A bargain Renaud cannot refuse.
Aleysia is willing to do anything to free her brother, so they will have a chance to escape. But Aleysia's body betrays her with the touch of the heathen Norman. And soon she begins to see what kind of man Renaud really is.
THE BARGAIN is very sensual and exciting. Renaud is male intensified and Aleysia is just the woman to match him. If you like a sexy, true-love story, I highly recommend this one. |
