"There's nothing I would not do for you."

It is London 1819. The plan is for Nicolette Rockwell to seduce Darian Tremayne, Earl of Kedgwick, to exact revenge for his illegitimate brother, Salvatore Casale. Darian Tremayne, well know rakehell, is unaware he has a half brother. Salvatore has a burning hatred of Darian and the man who sired him. His hatred stems from the fact that both he and Nicolette had grown up together in tough, bitter circumstances. Their fathers had are been members of the aristocracy. They fathered children without thought. Those illegitimate children then had to survive the best way they could. And revenge against Darian seems the perfect payback for Salvatore. Nicolette goes along with the plan as she owes everything to Salvatore.

But their plan falls apart when a sudden passionate kiss changes everything that Salvatore and Nicolette thought about each other. Is there more than just friendship between them? Are their feelings mutual? Nicolette has no idea how to change the brotherly feelings Salvatore has for her into something more. Salvatore, as the long time friend and protector of Nicolette, desires her passionately, but does not want to hurt her. So what are two people suddenly falling in love going to do about it; Especially when there is still revenge to be had? Which is more important; love or payback? Is forgiveness for past sins possible?

A Dangerous Game is about playing with emotions and having them backfire on you. Suddenly, Nicolette and Salvatore who have been friends for so long, find themselves caught up in burgeoning love, simmering jealously and the need to honor the one they love the best. A Dangerous Game is sweet, sensuous and romantic. I enjoyed reading about two people who suddenly become blindingly aware of each other after such a long friendship. I also liked how the book did not go the way I expected it to. That is refreshing. A Dangerous Game is all about not knowing who you are going to fall in love with until it happens and how you handle the fall. It is an enjoyable, lighthearted read.

Salvatore Tremayne wants revenge against his half and legitimate brother, the Earl of Kedgwick. He grew up in the brothels with Nicolette. They became partners and rose to fame as musical entertainers. He plans to mire the Kedgwick name in scandal by using Nicolette to seduce his half brother. Nicolette asks Salvatore to teach her how to seduce him. He doesn't realize that she has been in love with him for all these years.

A Dangerous Game is a nice mixture of erotic romance and historical fiction. Salvatore is a man who has worked and pulled himself out of a harsh beginning. He is a handsome and very sexy male. Nicolette is an innocent and very beautiful girl. Her personality still carries a naiveté that is extremely touching. With Salvatore and Nicolette, Ms. Templeton gives the reader two meaty characters to like. They are full of depth and fully realized. Salvatore is driven by his zeal for revenge but when push comes to shove, can he sacrifice the woman he loves for it? Nicolette knows how important it is for Salvatore to get his revenge, can she sacrifice her body for him to achieve his goal? These are the pivotal questions that each of the characters must resolve for themselves. The secondary characters of Darian and Charlotte gives an added dimension to this story. This reader wished their story had more details as their relationship seems to be just as complex as Salvatore and Nicollete's.

What an extremely entertaining story!! Ms. Templeton certainly knows how to write a steamy and highly erotic historical romance. She infuses it with two dynamic lead characters plus a myriad of secondary ones. The story never falters as Ms. Templeton takes us on a ride as we watch Salvatore and Nicolette's exploration of their "new" relationship. Once again, Ms. Templeton has done a great job of merging a historical romance with just enough erotic action to give it some sizzle!

4 cups!

Ms. Templeton takes a time in English history and makes it seem like an episode of a soap opera. This book was truly a page turner, and the plot twists were woven perfectly with memorable characters. An excellent read for anyone who likes a plot with more
turns than a country road!

What a delightful book! I was totally in love with the characters. Nicolette, who always relied on Salvatore like a friend, only to realize she wants and needs more than a
friendship from him. Salvatore, who thought he wanted revenge, only to realize he's the only one that should be kissing and touching Nicolette. This book also had wonderful secondary characters. I was also caught up in the sexual tension of this book, getting to
the point where I was yelling, "Have sex already!" to Nicolette and Salvatore. A Dangerous Game is the first book I've ever read by Ms. Templeton and I have to say it won't be my last.

Cerridwen Press is a new offshoot of the Ellora’s Cave Publishing group, which is focusing more on romance and story content and less on erotica – more mainstream books. If A DANGEROUS GAME is an example of what this line is going to provide, then this reviewer is impressed. Julia Templeton’s historical story of two bastard-born musicians is very well done.

4-1/2!

Ms. Templeton has crafted a fine story with many twists and turns. Although some were unexpected, there were a few delightfully unexpected ones that makes the story stand out from the pack. Nicolette is smart and knows what she wants. Salvatore is a flawed hero who is so caught up in his desires, he can't see the wonderful life he could have. Together their story is wonderfully different.

4.5 Blue Ribbon Rating!

A DANGEROUS GAME is a tantalizing tale of two abandoned children of the ton who found that unconditional love between them was worth more than revenge of others. Julia Templeton will keep you riveted to your seat as you read of the adversities that become life changing strengths between Salvatore and Nicolette.
